N26 – Notes on Account Integration (as of September 2025)
For retrieving your N26 account, “web scraping” technology is still partially used. In these cases, functions such as payment initiation and automatic background synchronization are unfortunately not available.
However, N26 provides a dedicated PSD2 interface (API) for licensed third-party providers, which complies with Berlin Group standards. Access to this interface is subject to regulatory requirements (e.g., QWAC certificate). Migration to this interface is underway for many providers to enable you to use the usual functionalities (e.g., payments, automatic synchronization) in the future.
Login notes for N26:
- Login at N26 is always performed via two-factor authentication (2FA): You need your email address and password as well as confirmation on your paired device (push notification, biometric approval, or SMS code).
- With the “Keyless” procedure (if activated), you can log in using Face ID and password.
- If you have problems with access or change devices, you can log in via WebApp and SMS code. If neither your phone nor phone number is available, contact N26 Support via live chat.
- To use third-party services (such as fino), a functioning 2FA and active access to the N26 app/WebApp are required.
Note in case of problems with bank login via fino services:
- Check your login credentials (email and password) for N26.
- Ensure that your two-factor authentication (push, SMS, or Keyless) is active and functioning.
- Check whether third-party provider (TPP) access is enabled and valid at your bank.
- If the problem persists, have your login credentials, 2FA procedure, and TPP access checked by N26 Support.
